Security
Imagine a notebook only accessible to you. Toshiba EasyGuard makes security simple, with software and hardware features that work together. A unique feature set bringing you the peace of mind you need when data security is vital. Toshiba EasyGuard, for carefree mobile computing.
And with Intel® Centrino® Duo processor technology you enable your mobile workforce to interact better and more efficiently with the secure, flexible, and expanded options in wireless connectivity.
Security features can be found on the Toshiba Tecra, Portégé and Satellite Pro models. Simply choose the features you need – and finding the right notebook becomes easy.
Fingerprint Reader - Single Sign On
One swipe of your finger across the biometric scanner gives you fast and convenient authentication for all system passwords (BIOS, HDD and Windows). It can even be used to access specific files or websites – eliminating the need to remember a multitude of different passwords.
Toshiba RAID
Depending on the RAID technology enabled, multiple hard disk drives can be combined into a single logical unit. This increases data integrity, fault-tolerance and throughput while minimising downtime and protecting against data loss.
Advanced Instant Security
It’s like a car alarm for the notebook. A user-configurable and intelligent alarm system senses tilt angle, acceleration, shock, vibration and movement, triggering the alarm when in danger.
Handwriting Signature Log-on
Signature verification means only authorised users can gain access to the system, enhancing security and keeping your data safe.
Computrace® enabled BIOS
Like a homing device for your notebook. Available as an option, this multi-layered security solution is small and undetectable, enabling you to track, locate and recover stolen notebooks.
Toshiba Device Access Control
This software utility enables you to lock specific devices and ports in order to prevent unauthorised notebook access and copying of confidential files. Done at BIOS level, this provides high-level security. The system administrator has constant access to all parts of the system and can change restrictions at any time.
Execute Disable Bit (XD-Bit)
When a virus or worm attempts to insert code into a processor's buffer, XD-Bit disables the execution of the code, effectively isolating system threats from virus and worm attacks before they can damage the notebook's OS. Proactive system security for peace of mind.
Wireless log-on via Bluetooth® mobile phone
For secure and convenient access, you can automatically log-on via your Bluetooth® mobile phone. If the phone is no longer in close proximity to the notebook, the screen automatically locks. You can even choose Bluetooth® to authenticate log-on to Windows.
