Life in Japan

Toshiba's Corporate R&D Center is based in the city of Kawasaki, Japan's prosperous 'Silicon Valley'. As one of Japan's leading industrial cities, Kawasaki plays host to the advanced R&D operations of many major computer and electronics companies. Situated on the coast between Tokyo and Yokohama, Kawasaki has a population of 1.2 million and is a mere 20 minutes from Tokyo by train.

Japan offers something for everyone, from the bustling action of Tokyo to the peaceful walks of East Kyoto. Shopping areas abound, as do places of cultural interest such as museums and temples. There are also many places for entertainment - try Shinjuku to experience everything from noodle bars to shrines! There are also many outdoor attractions, including Mount Fuji, Japan's highest mountain (3,776m). The Daisetsuzan National Park, located in Hokkaido, is well worth visiting. Covering 1432 square miles, with mountain groups, volcanoes, lakes and forests, it's the perfect environment for relaxing, hiking and skiing.
