 Sustainability Research Topics
Research on solution models for sustainable technologies in the electricity supply industry
Explanation
To attain the 50% reduction of greenhouse gases goal by 2050, establishment of sustainable technologies, such as IGCC(*1) and CCS(*2), is urgently needed in the electricity supply industry. This programme is aimed at analyzing problems which are involved in the phases of development, introduction and operation of these technologies, and creating solution models based on environmental impact assessment methods. In this research, a synergistic approach which incorporates the viewpoints of the EU and Japan should be applied.
(*1) Integrated coal Gasification Combined Cycle, (*2) Carbon dioxide Capture and Storage systems
Knowledge and Skills required
Candidates should have a broad knowledge of the field of environmental impact analysis and electrical engineering, as well as practical experience of life cycle assessment and/or risk analysis. |
