Culture
Toshiba contributes to the local communities in which we operate by supporting many cultural activities across Europe.
 London Symphony Orchestra (LSO)
Toshiba has had a strong relationship with the London Symphony Orchestra for close to twenty years. The LSO embarked on a tour of Japan at the beginning of 2006 in the "Toshiba Grand Concerts". |
Victoria and Albert Museum in London (V&A)
The Toshiba Gallery of Japanese Art at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London was opened in 1986. The Gallery is one of the largest permanent displays of Japanese art and design in Europe. |
 Toshiba International Foundation (TIFO)
TIFO supports projects around the world that encourage international cultural exchange and a deeper understanding of Japan and has been involved in the funding of many projects across Europe. TIFO has also been helping the V&A by supporting its programme to conserve the Mazarin Chest. The Chest is one of the finest examples of Japanese export lacquer to have survived from the early 17th century.
TIFO also has donated Japanese-language explanatory panels for works of art at the Louvre museum in Paris and funded a number of symposiums and lectures across Europe, including a series of lectures on Japanese Art at the Sainsbury Institute in London and "The Economics of Language" lecture series at the Duisberg-Essen University in Germany.
